Joe Barantovich, a well-known local high school football coach, is now FIU's assistant football coach.

Formerly with Southwest and Southridge high schools in South Florida, Barantovich also spent a great deal of time with his students off the field and in front of the classroom as an English teacher and test chair at Southridge.

Barantovich, who earned a master's degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh, is currently pursuing an advanced degree in educational leadership from FIU.

He married to Martha.
