The FIU Golden Panthers begin Spring Football
Practice on Monday, March 25 at the FIU Community stadium and
culminate their 15-day exercise with the inaugural Spring Game
on Saturday, April 13.
MIAMI, Fla. (March 12, 2002) -- In a joint
announcement by Florida International University and Sunshine
Network, Golden Panthers athletic director Rick Mello said today
that the school's first-ever intercollegiate football game between
FIU and St. Peter's College of New Jersey has been moved up two
days to accommodate a statewide television audience.
MIAMI, Fla. (March 4, 2002) - La Banda del
Sol is the newest member of the Florida International University
School of Music. The inaugural marching band for the university,
La Banda del Sol will be comprised of more than 100 members who
will audition for spots in the history-making group.
Athletic administrators from FIU and Bethune-Cookman
College gathered at the Ft. Lauderdale City Hall to announce plans
for this year's South Florida Classic football game, scheduled
for Saturday, Sept. 21 at Ft. Lauderdale's Lockhart Stadium.
MIAMI, Fla. (Feb. 6, 2002) - Florida International
University Head Football Coach Don Strock will announce FIU's second
high school recruiting class at a news conference today, Wednesday,
Feb. 6 at 4:30 p.m. at the Rathskeller in the Graham Center. FIU
will also unveil the new football uniforms at the press conference.
MIAMI, Fla. (Feb. 6, 2002) -- Florida International
University Head Football Coach Don Strock announced that 21 high
school athletes had accepted grant-in-aid to attend the Miami-based
university this fall. The second year of recruiting will get the
program ready for the fall.
